Mathieu Debuchy is keen to deliver his best form for Newcastle fans.
The French right-back has struggled with the pace of the Premier League, since joining Newcastle from Lille in January.
Now, with a tough pre-season under his belt and a solid start to the season, Debuchy feels he can really push on and show his true qualities.
The 27-year-old defender has thanked the supporters for standing by him and welcoming him with "open arms".
"The supporters have been absolutely fantastic. They welcomed me with open arms.
"To hear your name chanted during a game gives you a huge boost. Of course, the fans are very important, especially here at Newcastle. They are the 12th man on the pitch, as they say.
Although the defender refused to comment on best pal Yohan Cabaye’s summer transfer saga, there is little doubt that it had an impact on him too.
With Cabaye staying, Debuchy feels the Toon are heading in the right direction.
"Overall, we have done well as a team.
"We feel very well prepared. We have done the right sort of preparation, so I think we have a good chance this season."
The Magpies entertain Hull City at St James' Park tomorrow looking to make it three wins on the bounce, and take their season tally to ten points from their opening five games - their best return in the top-flight since the 2000/01 season.
