Real Madrid take on Getafe this weekend looking for a win that will move them closer to the top of the table.
The Spanish giants come off the back of a convincing 6-1 win away to Galatasaray in the Champions League and they will be looking to close the gap on Atletico Madrid and Barcelona at the top of La Liga.
Here is the side they could go with against Getafe.
GK – Diego Lopez
Lopez continues to perform well for Real Madrid whenever he is used and as he continues to try and prove he’s a better number one than Iker Casillas. Lopez is brilliant in terms of shot stopping and his distribution.
RB – Alvaro Arbeloa
Expect to see Arbeloa move back to his more natural right sided position. He’s great going forward and is one of the best full backs in Spain when it comes to his basic defensive work.
CB – Sergio Ramos
Ramos is the best centre back that Real Madrid currently own so he’ll retain his place throughout the season as long as he stays fit. The Spaniard is difficult for even the biggest forwards to outmuscle and he’s good on the ball, as he plays out from the back frequently.
CB – Pepe
Pepe continues to prove it was the correct decision by Real Madrid not to sell him over the summer. He looks confident at the moment and seems to be going into games with a point to prove.
LB – Nacho
Arbeloa was used in this position during mid-week but the fact this is a home league game against Getafe means Nacho should get a go at left back. He’s more than capable of doing a job at both ends of the pitch.
RM – Angel di Maria
The only player who could possibly replace di Maria at the moment is Gareth Bale. However, that would be extremely harsh on the winger because he’s not really done anything wrong in recent games.
CM – Sami Khedira
Khedira is likely to be the player who sits in front of the back four, picks off opposition attacks and makes interceptions. His passing skills are as good as any other player in the side.
CM – Luka Modric
Modric has taken over the role of Mesut Ozil to a certain extent and he remains a very important player for the club. His ability to find passes all over the pitch is very important and he can setup a chance in a split second.
CM – Isco
Isco continues to thrive in his role and he will be confident after bagging a goal in mid-week. He’s the player who bursts forward from midfield to support the attack, difficult to pick up because he makes runs from deep positions.
LM – Cristiano Ronaldo
Ronaldo remains the main attacking threat in the team. He bagged a hat-trick during mid-week and is still very much the main man at the club. Expect to see him drifting into central attacking positions regularly.
ST – Karim Benzema
Benzema also had a good mid-week game, bagging a brace which will do his confidence the world of good. He plays right on the shoulder of the opposition back four, which is crucial in terms of taking chances in behind and creating space for others.
What do you think? Should Nacho start? Should Bale be starting?
