Pacos de Ferreira qualifying for the Group Stages of the Europa League would always come as a shock to many a football fan.
But the club finished third in the Primeira Liga last term and The Beavers are now ready to embark on a European campaign - with highly rated Fiorentina their opponents.
But they come into the game in a completely different run of form to that which saw them finish behind Benfica and FC Porto in the league last term.
Pacos are now bottom of the table, with no points from four games and just one goal - meaning Fiorentina are the massive favourites for the fixture.
But one player who recently arrived at the club is well known to Premier League fans - Manchester United flop Bebe.
The Portuguese youngster was infamously signed by Sir Alex Ferguson for £7.2 million in 2010 in a truly sensational transfer - not least because Sir Alex Ferguson had to admit he had never seen him play and his transfer was at the recommendation of Carlos Quieroz. However Bebe never looked like making the grade with the club and a loan-spell with Besiktas ended in injury and discipline nightmare.
Bebe went out on loan with Rio Ave last season, and had a mixed spell with the club - shining on occasion before disappointing on others.
But Pacos took a risk on him this summer and tonight he has a chance to shine against the Italian outfit - probably playing as a striker rather than out wide.
One former Fiorentina player feels he is the difference maker for Pacos. Nuno Gomes, himself once heavily linked with Manchester United, was talking to Italian media this week:
"This year Pacos are much weaker and has not started the season well of course, with a four game losing streak. Of course I do not recommend to ever let your guard down, in spite of everything is a good team, trying to make the dribble his strength, with a centre-forward like Bébé , on loan from Manchester United , a talent of which you can still bet. ‘’
He went on to say Fiorentina should win, with another Manchester United link in Giuseppe Rossi earmarked as the potential match winner by the former Benfica and Blackburn striker Gomes.
But for Bebe, this is a chance to prove he is no flop just that he is punching at the wrong weight. If he can have an impact against Fiorentina, people might just start to take him seriously.
Can Bebe revive his career at Pacos de Ferreira?
