Now the first Champions League matchday is completed I think it will be best if we look back at a collection of the best goals from this week’s action. Sit back and enjoy some spectacular and jaw dropping goals.
Cristiano Ronaldo v Galatasaray
The world’s second best player hasn’t had a bad week at all, earlier he signed a multi-million pound contract with Madrid and to top it off he scored a hat trick in a thoroughly comprehensive 6-1 thrashing of the Turkish Champions. The poor defender was Emannuel Eboue, I still don’t think he has worked out what Ronaldo did.
Mohamed Salah v Chelsea
There’s nothing better than a team goal and this was one of the best you’ll see. Basle played it out from their own half and with a series of incisive quick passes they cut open the Chelsea defence and Salah finished brilliantly to put his side en route to a famous win.
Lorenzo Insigne v Dortmund
This was a perfect free kick, no goalkeeper in the world would have saved it and the great thing about it was the hometown boy, Insigne, got a moment he must have dreamed of for a long time. Napoli under Rafa Benitez will be a force to be reckoned with in this season’s competition.
Walcott v Marseille
Theo Walcott didn’t have the best of games leading up to this chance but a bad defensive header allowed the winger to volley home from close range. It was a difficult skill to pull off because the ball hung in the air so long but he connected well and left the goalkeeper with no chance at all. It setup an excellent away win for Arsenal.
Hulk v Atletico Madrid
Hulk is know for his long-range goals and this was no different, a 30 yard screamer that left the Madrid goalkeeper with no hope of stopping it. It was the equaliser for Zenit but they could not hold on as Atletico Madrid went on to win the game.
