Chelsea morning news: Ramires suspended, Lewandowski deal possible

A round up of this morning’s news relating to Chelsea.

Chelsea will head into this evening’s Champions League match at home against FC Basel without Ramires.

The Brazilian is not available having been sent off during the European Super Cup last month, which gives Jose Mourinho a headache as to who to use in the holding midfield role.

Chelsea will be looking to get off to a good start against the side they beat on their way to Europa League glory last season.

Chelsea are on red alert after it emerged Napoli have already moved to sign Borussia Dortmund’s Robert Lewandowski.

News broke yesterday that the player’s agent had held talks with Napoli’s president, with the focus of those talks reportedly the Pole’s future.

Lewandowski looks set for a move away from Borussia Dortmund this winter with his contract due to expire next summer.

Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku has set himself the target of becoming the club’s main forward over the next few years.

Lukaku is currently on loan with Everton and wants to create a reputation for himself as one of the most dangerous young strikers in English football.

“I always said that, by 21, I wanted to be one of the best players and now I’m 20 and I think this is the year of the confirmation - When you do well for a team such as Everton then it becomes easier to go into a top team and establish yourself,” said the Belgian.
