A Norwegian rapper has paid tribute to the late Gary Speed with a hip hop music video.

Remember the name Lars Vaular because the 28-year-old has come up with a tribute song to former Leeds United star Gary Speed, which is as touching as it is entertaining.

Speed took his own life on November 27 2011 creating widespread shock around the football world. He enjoyed a superb career in the top flight of the English game and had only just started his managerial conquests with a spell at Sheffield United before taking over the Wales national team.

“Gary Speed was an honest and good team player and everybody respected him. Even before his death everybody was missing Gary Speed. I was a big fan early on, not just because he was a good footballer but also because he had the looks of a star,” Vaular told the Yorkshire Evening Post.

We’ll never know his motives for ending his own life but it’s a tribute to his character and personality that just under two years on, he’s still fondly remembered and not just within the boundaries of Yorkshire.

What do you make of that tribute?
