Tottenham Hotspur morning news: Eriksen shrugs off Ozil comparisons, Serie A clubs target midfielder

A round up of the key news stories about Tottenham Hotspur this morning.

Spurs midfielder Christian Eriksen has played down comparisons between himself and Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil.

Comparisons between the pair have been created as both had impressive debuts last weekend but Eriksen says he has a long way to go before he’s as good as Ozil.

“I think Ozil has achieved a little bit more than me! I am a few years younger and still have to learn a lot but it is nice to be compared,” he told the Daily Mirror.

Roma and Inter Milan are reportedly ready to snap up Tottenham midfielder Lewis Holtby.

The German only moved to White Hart Lane last winter but with the current overcrowding at the club in midfield, he may seek to move elsewhere for a higher amount of first team football.

Holtby has played just 20 minutes of Premier League football so far this season, which suggests he is far from being first choice.

Championship side Brighton will reportedly step up their pursuit of Tottenham’s Jonathan Obika this week.

Obika is currently struggling with an ankle problem but the Brighton side appear keen to tie him down on a loan deal, as they seek cover and additional options up front.

Obika has experience in the Championship, having spent ten games on loan at Charlton at the back end of last season.
