Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge insists he is not at full pace despite a sensational start to the season.
Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge may be the man of the moment, but he might be about to get even better.
It's a scary thought for Premier League defenders, who are battling to cope with the striker even as it is.
Sturridge scored his fourth goal in four games in a 2-2 draw at Swansea last night, showing alertness and quick feet to pounce on a mistake by former teammate Jonjo Shelvey.
Interviewed after the game on Sky, Sturridge made the admission:
"To be honest with you I don't feel fit."
The 24-year-old missed both of England's fixtures against Moldova and Ukraine and went onto add he was 'disappointed' to have missed out.
His return to action and the scoresheet will no doubt have been infuriating for Roy Hodgson, but Liverpool fans won't be complaining.
If Brendan Rodgers did take a gamble with his fitness against Swansea, it certainly paid off.
When Sturridge hits what he considers 100 per cent fitness, Premier League - you have been warned...
Can Sturridge win the Golden Boot? What will Suarez' return mean for him?
