Despite possible injury setback Giroud after Golden boot, more to come from Özil - Arsenal morning round-up

Here's the latest Arsenal news, featuring Olivier Giroud, Mesut Özil and Clement Grenier.

The International Business Times reports Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud wants to overhaul Robin van Persie and Luis Suarez to become the Premier League’s top scorer.

Giroud is currently on a good run, having scored in every league game this season and sits top of the scoring charts with four goals.

At the weekend Giroud scored his first Premier League goal outside of London in the win against Sunderland.

The striker said: ‘With this team I can score many goals. Can I finish the league's top scorer ? I must have a chance. This is the best run I have had since I joined Arsenal and I think it is also my best form too.’

CityAm reports that Arsenal were worried that they would be without their top scorer for the Champions League trip to Marseille.

Giroud seemed to twist his knee while trying to receive a pass from Aaron Ramsey late in the game on Saturday.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger stated he was worried after the match

‘That’s my worry – we are very thin at the moment. It’s a knee problem. He is the player at the moment that would be very difficult for us to replace.’

If Giroud misses out it could leave the Gunners with no recognised centre forward, as Podolski is out long-term with a hamstring injury.

Wenger also told the club website that there is so much more to come from Mesut Özil after his debut at the weekend.

He said: ‘He looked very comfortable’

‘He is a great player and there is a lot more to come from him. He told me after the game he enjoyed it but he had a good idea of what to expect.’

Ozil was ill before the game so Arsenal fans can be expecting much more despite the excellent start.

‘He was like a guy who was invited to play for us because he was sick', said the manager. 'But for a guy who was invited he did well'.

And Arsenal.com also reports that the club will face competition if they want to sing Lyon midfielder Clement Grenier. There were reports that Wenger would make a move in the summer transfer window, but no such move was ever completed.

Grenier eventually decided to sign a new contract at the French club, Juventus are also interested in the French playmaker. The Turin club is expected to make a move after missing out on Christian Eriksen.
