Tottenham Hotspur morning news: Two strikers linked with January move; Eriksen praised

A select round-up of news relating to Tottenham, including Fernando Llorente and post-match reaction.

Andre Villas-Boas was full of praise for his Tottenham team following their 2-0 win over Norwich City yesterday. Two goals from Gylfi Sigurdsson secured the points, while debutant Christian Eriksen showed a tantalising glimpse of what is to come.

It was a great debut for Christian,” the Spurs boss said. “For a player of his age he has great experience, and he’s a pure number 10, a creative player.”

On his goal-scorer he said, “Sigurdsson was man-of-the-match for me. He has a great attitude.”

Today’s news is very much about frontmen, with Juventus forward Fernando Llorente linked with a move to the Premier League after reportedly being unhappy in Turin.

The Mirror reports that Spurs, along with Arsenal and Chelsea, may consider a January move for the Spaniard who is said to have failed to settle into the Italian way of life.

Although the same paper claims Tottenham could be after another Serie A-based player – AC Milan’s Stephen El Shaarawy.

The story claims Villas-Boas still wishes to sign another striker despite the arrival of Roberto Soldado, and the Milan forward is a target for a reported fee of £20million.

And finally, for those Spurs fans interested, Gareth Bale scored on his debut for Real Madrid last night.

The Welshman scored Real’s first goal in a 2-2 draw with Villarreal, and played 62 minutes before being substituted.
