Here is the Manchester United line-up for the early kick-off at Old Trafford.
Starting XI: De Gea, Fabio, Vidic, Ferdinand, Evra, Valencia, Anderson, Carrick, Young, Rooney, van Persie
Subs: Amos, Evans, Hernandez, Cleverley, Zaha, Fellaini, Januzaj
Manchester United have some catching up to do after taking just four points from their opening three league games. That 4-1 victory against Swansea City seems a long time ago now, and their failure to score in their last two matches means they currently sit seventh in the Premier League table.
The international break saw Robin van Persie rediscover his scoring touch in sensational form, while Shinji Kagawa reminded David Moyes what he is capable of with two impressive performances for Japan.
When they woke up on transfer deadline day, United fans may have looked ahead to this match as the one in which a number of new faces would be unveiled; as it is, only Marouane Fellaini will be pulling on a new shirt this afternoon.
Wayne Rooney’s head wound was expected to keep him out of the match (until a miraculous recovery occurred), while Phil Jones’s injury means Fabio will deputise.
Crystal Palace have new signings Barry Bannan and Cameron Jerome in the match-day squad, while Jonathan Parr will be hoping to play a part after missing five months after coming through a mid-week friendly for the Eagles.
Palace have failed to beat United in their previous eight Premier League encounters, taking just two points from a possible 24. Saying that, Ian Holloway’s side have only one point less than their opponents going into the match, so could a shock be on the cards?
What is your prediction for the game?
