Manchester United morning news: Former starlet on English interest; Vidic on Moyes

A select round-up of news relating to Manchester United, including Paul Pogba, Harry Maguire and no hairdryer for David Moyes…yet.

Manchester United fans will have mixed feelings about former player Paul Pogba. But one thing is certain – the English champions could do with him now.

The Frenchman has blossomed since his arrival at Juventus, and he has now revealed that he turned down the chance to play for two London clubs, along with AC Milan.

Speaking to Sky Sports Italia he said, “I heard of interest from Arsenal and Chelsea…but there is no one like Juve.”

Of all the ones that got away, Pogba is perhaps the most frustrating for United fans. But they will hope he is the last great youngster to opt to leave Old Trafford in the years ahead.

One young player linked with the club is Sheffield United defender Harry Maguire. But the 20-year-old defender’s manager David Weir claims to be in the dark when it comes to the reported interested.

I don’t know anything about it,” Weir told Sky Sports, “but it is great news for our players to be linked with such big clubs.”

And finally, the Mirror reports that Moyes is yet to replicate his predecessor’s infamous hairdryer treatment.

When asked if the new boss was yet to let rip, captain Nemanja Vidic said, “Until now he didn’t really have any need to, like you say, hairdryer and shout at players, because at the moment everything is going smooth.”

Those fans looking at a table that reveals just four points from United’s opening three games may question if “smooth” is the right word to describe the campaign to date.
