Tottenham Hotspur morning news: Willian attacks Spurs, AVB backs new signings

A round up of the latest Tottenham Hotspur news stories this morning.

Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas has claimed that the club can become better off without Gareth Bale.

The Welshman completed his move to Real Madrid in a world record deal over the summer and Spurs have spent over £100 million on summer arrivals.

“We’ve done our transfer activity and invested a lot in young players that have great potential. We will have to work with them to make sure they develop into the world stars that we think they can become,” said AVB.

Failed summer transfer target Willian has called Chelsea a better club than Tottenham Hotspur in every aspect.

The former Anzhi Makhachkala forward was heavily linked with a move to White Hart Lane over the summer before Chelsea nipped in and did a big money deal for the Brazilian.

“I always wanted to go to Chelsea. Chelsea presented an offer and it was always my dream to go there. Chelsea is a better club than Tottenham in every aspect,” he said.

However, despite his optimism in relation to the squad, the boss has said the current side isn’t ready to challenge for the Premier League title.

He says it’s far too early to describe his side as early season title contenders due to the young and impressive look to the current squad.

Tottenham’s summer transfer business has moved them above Arsenal on the betting market to secure a top four finish.
