Rosicky in Arsenal blow, but better news on Walcott and Wilshere

Arsenal will be without Tomas Rosicky for the trip to Sunderland, after he sustained a thigh injury on international duty with the Czech Republic this week.

Manager Arsene Wenger did, however, have some good news on the injury front for Arsenal.

Jack Wilshere and Theo Walcott are both fully fit for Saturday’, he said at a press conference this afternoon.

Both looked to have picked up knocks in England’s 0-0 draw with Ukraine on Tuesday night - and neither finished the game - but it seems that they both have had time to recover sufficiently for the return of the Premier League.

During the press conference, Wenger addressed issue of his lack of activity in the transfer market: ‘I looked a bit lonely when I said I was optimistic (about a big signing). At the Tottenham game I thought we would manage it.’

Wenger also announced that there was a possibility of more arrivals before the transfer window closed. ‘We were open to bringing one more player in, or two.'

This news will, of course, give the Arsenal fans hope that in the January transfer window the club can further strengthen their squad for the run in of the Premier League.

Wenger finished by pouring yet more praise on to Mesut Özil’

‘He is at a good age, he is already a great player. There is room for him to become dominant and step up.’
