Nigeria coach Stephen Keshi has tipped Moses to be part of a title winning side this season, how far-fetched are his comments?
“I am happy with this because Liverpool is a club I like very much.
“The arrival of Moses means Liverpool will win the championship because he is a very good player who will boost the side.”
Maybe that is going a bit too far as the Nigerian coach is noted for being quite outspoken, but it is no secret that Keshi rates Moses so highly that he should be playing for a side that has ambitions be towards the top end of the table, and that he will have a positive effect on their season.
Is Victor Moses of the quality Liverpool desire? It is hard to argue he isn’t. His intervention in Chelsea’s Champions League game against Shakhtar Donetsk gave Chelsea hope of qualification from their group last season, and his goal tally got into double figures in all competition.
Given the amount of time he spent on the pitch, that’s a pretty good return. Of course one player doesn’t win a team a title, but a player with different characteristics to rest of the squad can play a pivotal role in allowing a team to have a successful season.
A pacey wide player who can take on a man is something that was perhaps lacking at Liverpool, and his degree of control is something that will have drawn Brendan Rodgers towards him.
Could Moses play in a title winning team? There’s no reason why he couldn’t. A strong player who is willing to take on players and has an eye for goal is going to be an asset to any side.
Winning the league this season? Liverpool do top the table, but that’s still a bit of a distant ambition, isn’t it?
