A round up of the important news and gossip connected to Liverpool.

Liverpool are ready to make a £150 million commitment towards redeveloping Anfield. The club’s owner John Henry says plans to expand the stadium remain on track and that finances won’t be a problem when the time comes.

“We are making good progress - I think we were clear at one point that what made financial sense was going in this direction – and this is the direction that makes financial sense for the club for a long time,” Henry told reporters.

Spanish newspaper Marca has reported that Real Madrid will seriously consider a strong push to sign Luis Suarez this January. After singing Gareth Bale, the Spanish club are reportedly ready to go up against Arsenal if the Gunners reignite their interest in the striker during the winter transfer window.

Chelsea midfielder Juan Mata is reportedly being monitored by Spanish club Barcelona. Liverpool made an approach to sign the Spaniard on loan but were knocked back by Chelsea. However, the Reds could go back to the West London club if there are future signs he may be available.

Newcastle United are reportedly ready to offer winger Hatem Ben Arfa a new contract to fend off the possibility of a January bid from Liverpool. The Liverpool Echo has reported that Brendan Rodgers is keen on the Frenchman and is prepared to make a move.

Barcelona are at the centre of another story relating to the Reds, with Cristian Tello admitting he turned down the chance top leave the Spanish club to sign a new long term contract. Liverpool have been connected to the 22-year-old for well over a year.

One player Liverpool could realistically tempt away from his club is Keisuke Honda of CSKA Moscow. The 27-year-old admitted that he wouldn’t be signing on at the Russian club and AC Milan’s failure to do a deal this summer means he will be up for grabs in January.

“I always wanted to stay here - I knew that Liverpool were interested in me, but I never thought about leaving,” he told reporters.

Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher says he expects Victor Moses to play an important role at the club this season. Moses signed on a season long loan deal last week.

“Moses will be an important signing. It’s an area that they have struggled in maybe at times this season, in the second half being able to get out on the counter attack,” Carragher told Sky Sports News.

Carragher has also had his say on a player that was drafted in to help void the gap left by his retirement, Mamadou Sakho. Carragher played alongside Sakho in a charity match last year and says he knew the defender was destined to play at the top level.

Another Liverpool defender, Kolo Toure, says he feels the way the side will achieve success this season is through the strength of their team spirit. Toure says team spirit is more important than individuals and that it’s possible to win anything if the players rally together.
