Chelsea morning news: Barca switch focus to Cech, Ramires open to Benfica return

A round up of this morning’s key news stories about Chelsea.

Rumours have started circulating that Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech has become the latest transfer target for Barcelona.

The Spanish champions continue to be linked with some of the best number ones from all over Europe with Victor Valdes set to be released from the club at the end of the season.

The rumours are difficult to understand considering Cech’s status at Chelsea and the positive relationship he shares with Jose Mourinho.

Ramires has hinted that a return to Benfica is possible at some point in the future.

Chelsea snapped up the Brazilian midfielder after he’d spent just one season playing for the Portuguese club but he’s leaving the door open on a possible return.

“Football is full of surprises and I would love to return one day. Benfica have a great team, a good history and a good coach. The only thing missing in recent years has been a title,” he told press reporters.

Nottingham Forest have become the latest club to declare an interest in signing Chelsea youngster Nathaniel Chalobah.

The England Under-21 international has already been strongly linked with moves to the Championship with Wigan Athletic and Watford.

The 18-year-old spent time on loan with Watford last season as the Hornets narrowly missed out on promotion to the Premier League.
