Mesut Ozil helped Germany clinch a World Cup place with an easy victory over the Faroe Islands, which new teammate Per Mertesacker began by scoring a 23rd minute opener.
Germany made tough work of the away match against the minnows, and took until the 74th minute to extend their lead.
The opportunity came after the home side's Alti Gregorson was sent off, for a late challenge which conceded a penalty.
Ozil was the man to step up and take it, doubling Germany's lead, showing fantastic poise to leave the goalkeeper wrongfooted.
A routine penalty, and one Ozil seemed embarrassed to score. He certainly did not celebrate, rolling his eyes when congratulated by teammates.
It was the German ruthlessness in him coming out, a 'what's to celebrate about labouring to a win over the Faroe Islands' look.
It's the sign of a perfectionist, and a winner's attitude, and that can only be good news for fans of his new club who are counting down the days until they see him in action in an Arsenal shirt.
