While the Premier League stopped for the international break over the weekend, over in America, there was no such break for fans of Major League Soccer to endure.
Still in the regular season, former Everton trialist Edson Buddle scored a superb winner to help the Colorado Rapids defeat a depleted LA Galaxy.
Galaxy were missing star players Landon Donovan, who did actually play for Everton in two separate spells, and former Tottenham captain Robbie Keane who were both on international duty.
Buddle is a former USA international himself with 11 caps, featuring as a substitute against England in a 1-1 draw at the 2010 World Cup.
In January 2012 he was invited over to Everton for a trial, to join Tim Howard and Landon Donovan who had just begun his second loan spell at Goodison.
David Moyes eventually decided against giving Buddle a short-term deal, and the striker then signed from Ingolstadt in Germany's second division to sign for LA Galaxy.
He switched to the Colorado Rapids this year, and the now 32-year-old will have savoured his excellent winner against his former club.
