Are Arsenal sure they don't need this man in their midfield?
Arsenal's Tomas Rosicky and Aaron Ramsey got on the scoresheet for their countries at the weekend, and had they signed a player strongly linked with them over the summer it could have been a trio.
Luiz Gustavo was reported by several apparently misinformed national newspapers to be close to signing a deal with Arsenal in August, only to move to Wolfsburg instead.
The switch from Bayern Munich was seen by many as perplexing, but Gustavo said simply that he wanted assurances of first team football ahead of next year's World Cup.
Which was certainly a shame for the Gunners, who did not sign a defensive midfielder over the summer, despite it being seen as a problem position for the club.
It was though Gustavo's attacking qualities which shone in Brazil's stunning 6-0 friendly win over Australia at the weekend, striking an unstoppable shot into the net from the edge of the box.
Brazil's other goals were scored by Jo (2), Neymar, Ramires, and Alexandre Pato.
