Germany manager Joachim Löw has expressed his shock at Real Madrid's decision to sell Mesut Özil to Arsenal. Though he stressed it was a good move for the player to guarantee himself first team football in a World Cup year.
Löw suggests that Özil will benefit from playing in Arsenal's style of play and under his new manager Arsene Wenger.
Meanwhile Özil's former manager Jose Mourinho labelled the playmaker as the best no 10 in the world.
He said: "Ozil is unique - there is no copy of him. He is the best No 10 in the world. He makes things easier for his team-mates with his play and his decisions. Everyone liked him and you can see a bit of Figo and Zidane in him."
Since his arrival there have been a number of current Real Madrid players declaring their sadness over the departure and fans seem to be upset, they stated their feelings at Gareth Bale's presentation on Monday by chanting 'Özil's not for sale'
In his first few interviews since joining Arsenal Özil has said a number of times that he is confident that the Gunners to end their 8-year this season. He told the club's official website:
"In the last few years, Arsenal haven't been so successful but we want to become more successful."
"The coach is a world-class manager - he's demonstrated that for years."
He won't be able to join up with his new team mates until after the international break, Germany have a game against Austria tonight and travel to the Faroe Islands on Tuesday.
