Manchester City latest: Navas on Casillas’ move; Hansen reveals manager snub

All the latest news and views from the Etihad...

Manchester City midfielder Jesus Navas has been speaking about the prospect of Real Madrid’s Iker Casillas joining him in Manchester.

The Spanish goalkeeper has been linked with a move away from the Bernabeu having fallen out of favour under Jose Mourinho last season. And while Navas acknowledged that no move would or could happen for now, he would like to see his Spanish international teammate at the Etihad one day.

We are not going to sign Iker right now,” Navas said, “but we all know what a great ‘keeper he is, and the importance he has on the team.

At City there are great ‘keepers, but Iker would be a great reinforcement.”

Joe Hart may have something to say about that.

Another City player, Sergio Aguero, has also been speaking about his club, revealing that he sees Manchester United and Chelsea as the Blues’ main rivals for the league title this season.

Speaking to Match of the Day magazine, the Argentinean said, “Man United will be desperate to retain it under their new manager and their squad is impressive.

Chelsea will also be dangerous, and you know Jose Mourinho will bring out the best in them.”

And finally, former Liverpool defender Alan Hansen has revealed that he once turned down the chance to manage City.

Announcing that he is to leave his role as a Match of the Day pundit at the end of the season, Hansen said he turned down an approach from former chairman Franny Lee in 1995.

Asked to take over from outgoing manager Brian Horton, Hansen rejected the approach as he never had any intention of becoming a manager.
