Five facts about Swansea City's Álvaro Vázquez

We take a look at Swansea City's deadline day signing.

He made a name for himself at this summer's U-21 European Championships in Israel and is now on his way to the Premier League to join his compatriot Michu at Swansea 

Five facts about Swansea City new boy Álvaro Vázquez:

1) Born in Barcelona on the 27th April 1991 he spent much of his upbringing in the city of Badalona

2) He joined Espanyol's youth system in 2005 at the age of 14. Only four years later he made his senior football debut for the reserves in the Segunda B division.

3) Vázquez represented Spain at the 2011 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Colombia. He finished the competition with five goals as the national team reached the quarterfinals. He went to represent his country at the U-21 Euro 2013 in Israel, scoring one goal in a 3-0 win over the Netherlands.

4) He acted as backup to current Southampton Pablo Osvaldo while at Espanyol and was also managed by Saints boss Mauricio Pochettino.

5) He took part in the London 2012 Olympic football tournament for Spain but he couldn't help them avoid an exit in the group stage.
