In what is news that will surely delight those that wear red and white, former captain Cesc Fabregas has effectively ruled out any move to Manchester United by reinforcing his affection for current employers Barcelona.
The Spaniard, who dazzled at Emirates Stadium with a mature playmaking style that belied his years, spoke of how he is not in the sport for the money, but in it to follow a dream: 'When I arrived, I knew there would be other clubs where I would have earned more money and where I could get more playing time.
'I was making more money at Arsenal. But to join Barca was my dream, and I would not leave even if they [United] offered double my salary.'
One of Fabregas' closest friends during his time in North London was tenacious midfielder Mathieu Flamini, who recently secured a return to the club. The Frenchman, speaking to Arsenal Player, has said it feels like he never left.
Flamini was joined in the summer by the £42.5m arrival of Mesut Ozil, who has dominated the headlines more than any other footballer this week. While a lot of players join a club and declare their hopes of winning a trophy, the German leaves hope out of the statement and says he will win titles with Arsenal. Mesut, like Mathieu, was speaking to Arsenal Player.
Wenger was able to lure Ozil to Arsenal by holding a conversation with him in German. The number 10 (who confusingly will wear 11), will find a few familiar faces at the club as international team-mates Lukas Podolski and Per Mertesacker will both be in the N5 dressing-room, too.
Podolski said he is relishing the opportunity to 'rock' it with Ozil, while Per told DFB.de that everyone should be proud a player of his quality is now at the club.
Elsewhere, Aaron Ramsey won the internal goal of the month award because of his volleyed effort against Fenerbahce, the schedule for Arsenal's commitments in the UEFA Youth League has been revealed and the Ladies will line up against Kairat, of Kazakhstan, in the Champions League.
