Which world-class striker is the next step for Arsenal?

Karim Benzema

The arrival of Mesut Özil could be the sign of a new era at Arsenal, one where world-class talent once again will start arriving at the club.

There is no doubt that Özil will give Arsenal the ability to attract the world’s best players once again and it can’t be understated how important the role of Arsene Wenger was in capturing the German playmaker.

It was reported that it was a phone call from Wenger, in German, that persuaded the player to join the Gunners.

The question now turns to what the Arsenal manager will do in the subsequent transfer windows to further improve his squad? What other players can Arsenal bring in to make them regular title challengers once again?

A world-class striker is without doubt the biggest need for Arsenal over the next year or so, they wanted one in this transfer window but no deal was done.

Names such as Stefan Kießling, Karim Benzema and Robert Lewandowski have been rumoured as targets; although the latter does seem to be off to Bayern Munich next summer.

Kießling scored for fun in the Bundesliga last season and Karim Benzema was reportedly a target in this window, both would be excellent additions and give Arsenal a fighting chance of a League title.

It is difficult to pick one name that would shine for Arsenal but I’m sure the thought of playing in front of Özil, Cazorla and Wilshere will attract any striker in the world.

There will not be any shortage of chances but just imagine if the Gunners had held on to Robin van Persie last summer, if they did the title would surely be within their reach.

The next 2 or 3 transfer windows will massive for Arsenal and Arsene Wenger, they have already made a statement this summer, so can they build on that in the coming months.

If all goes to plan then it could be a very exciting few seasons ahead for the fans, who have had to wait so long for a chance to celebrate some silverware.
