The Daily Star has reported quotes from a source close to the Dutchman which suggest he’s not at all happy about the way David Moyes is going about his business as Manchester United’s new manager.
Van Persie is thought to be unconvinced by Moyes’ ability to manage United despite the fact he’s only just come into the job, replacing the legendary figure of Sir Alex Ferguson.
“Robin isn't happy and when that's the case he can't hide it on the pitch. When he's frustrated he is capable of doing something silly, and you could see that against Liverpool,” said the source.
If van Persie really isn’t a happy bunny then it’s a major problem for Moyes because van Persie is arguably the most important player to the current Manchester United first team.
He’s the primary striker and the man United are going to look to over the course of the season to score the majority of the team’s goals.
It’s very important that Moyes shows his experience and nips any issues in the bud at a very early stage before they develop to the point where a wedge is firmly driven between the player and the boss.
“He feels it isn't the same with the new manager as he misses working with Fergie, who he really loved playing under. Some of Moyes' training methods are not to his liking either,” added the source.
You have to take the reports with a pinch of salt because firstly, they aren’t attributed and secondly, they have come from a media source which sometimes likes to glorify even the most basic of rumours.
Van Persie is a top quality professional and if he does have issues with Moyes then he should have the confidence about him to approach the boss and show equal determination to get over any problems.
He can’t possibly have any problems with the way he’s being used at Manchester United because he’s starting in the big games, leading the attack and carrying the same responsibility that Sir Alex Ferguson placed on him.
Whether any niggles he has have something to do with the way United carried themselves in the recent transfer window we’ll never know, but if that is the case then it’s unlikely that United will approach another transfer window in the same way.
That’s also something he can’t do anything about because it’s not his responsibility to go about transfers for the club.
It’s difficult to understand where any unhappiness comes from, it could just be plain and simple frustration due to the transfer window and the start to the season, which can easily be turned around with a couple of positive results.
What do you think? Do you believe the reports that van Persie is unhappy?
