Chelsea morning news: Hazard fitness concerns, Lukaku happy with Everton switch

A round up of the key Chelsea news stories this morning.

There is a serious question mark hanging over the fitness of Chelsea midfielder Eden Hazard.

The Belgian suffered a recurrence of an Achilles injury while training with the national side yesterday and was forced out of the session.

However, the problem has been managed by Chelsea and the 22-year-old is still expected to play some part in Belgium’s latest World Cup qualifying matches.

Romelu Lukaku says he’s happy and excited to be joining Everton on loan for the rest of the season.

Rumours had started appearing that the Belgian forward was unhappy with Jose Mourinho for sending him on loan rather than giving him a first team chance at Stamford Bridge.

“This is a club that can bring me a lot, that I can bring a lot to. I still hope to grow and do a good job with this team. I think at my age it is important to play a lot. I have a good relationship with the coach of Chelsea,” said the forward.

A talented striker who wasn’t allowed to leave the club in the transfer window was Demba Ba.

Arsenal made an approach to sign the forward on loan and were willing to fork out £1.5 million for the privilege.

However, Chelsea were unwilling to do business with the North London club as they didn’t want to strengthen a rival that could hurt them over the course of the season.
