Newly promoted Cardiff knew they had to bolster their squad despite winning the Championship last season and they have done exactly that.
They were quite busy on deadline day wrapping up deals for Peter Odemwingie from West Brom and Kevin Theophile Catherine from Stade Rennais.
Cardiff had already brought in a handful of players earlier in the summer but were tempted to get involved in deadline day and they signed two players that could prove crucial to their survival push.
Steven Caulker and Gary Medel were both signings that stood out, it was somewhat of a coup that Cardiff managed to get Tottenham and Sevilla to sell both of those players.
Caulker had a terrific season at Tottenham and looked to have nailed down a starting spot in the lineup before being sold to the Premier League’s new boys.
The key aspect of their squad is they have veteran players like Craig Bellamy and Medel who have played at the highest level for the majority of their careers, top flight football experience is invaluable in these situations.
Of all the promoted sides you have to say that Cardiff have prepared the best and it showed when they beat Manchester City last week, no mean feat.
They look to have strength in depth in many areas in the squad and no one will enjoy visiting the Cardiff City stadium if the game against Man City is anything to go by.
You can’t be unhappy with the way the transfer window has gone for Cardiff, Malky Mackay and his staff have done very well to bring in some very talented footballers to help them in their fight for survival this season.
