A club making it's Premier League debut can often be one with a squad which is largely accustomed to Championship-level (or below) football, however, manager Malky Mackay performed admirably in the summer market by bringing in players experienced at the top level.
In Steven Caulker, the club acquired a defender with an England cap and, in Peter Odemwingie, possess a striker who, in 2010-12 was feared up and down the country until a stuttering spell last season.
Snapping at the heels of the Premier League's playmakers will be Gary 'the Pitbull' Medel and the £9.5m player from Sevilla could be the club's overall best purchase.
In total, the club spent £32m.
