Manchester United have a glaring need for a creative midfielder in their squad, as their loss against Liverpool and draw against Chelsea have clearly demonstrated.
So this begs the question - why did David Moyes and Manchester United let Kaka rejoin AC Milan ? And even stranger, is that the club appear to have left Arsenal unopposed to pursue Real Madrid’s Mesut Ozil.
Both players would have provided Manchester United with quality attacking midfielder options. Sure, Kaka may not be the player he was a few years ago, but he can still be an asset to the club. You may forgive him for missing out on Kaka, however, but the lack of interest in Mesut Ozil is quite perplexing for a team that's struggling so badly for creativity.
Ozil leads all players in Europe in terms of assists over the past three seasons, and would have suited United’s squad. And the prospect of combining with Robin van Persie is mouth-watering.
Maybe the reason for overlooking these players is that David Moyes is intent on starting Shinji Kagawa in behind van Persie, but Kakawa hasn’t started yet this season and many fans are wondering why. It's all very strange.
