Tottenham may not have finished in the transfer market just yet.
Sky Sports News is reporting that Spurs have made an enquiry with Chelsea regarding the addition of Demba Ba, thought to be on loan.
North London rivals Arsenal enquired after Ba earlier, with some unsubstantiated reports even claiming the Senegalese striker was even having a medical with the Gunners.
Arsenal's enquiries could be stopped in their tracks by Tottenham's approach, but Spurs' interest remains a surprise.
Ba is a proven Premier League striker who is surplus to requirements at Chelsea, and it's natural clubs would be interested in bringing him in.
But the relations between Spurs and Chelsea are at an all-time low after the way the Blues hijacked Tottenham's Willian deal earlier this summer.
Why would Chelsea suddenly want to do them a favour, and why would Spurs want to go cap in hand to Chelsea asking for a loan?
So there are certainly holes in the theory, but perhaps not wanting to see Arsenal add to their squad is enough to make Daniel Levy willing enough to make a cheeky enquiry.
Arsenal of course hold an advantage in being able to offer Champions League football, while Ba would not necessarily be first choice at either, but there is less competition at the Gunners.
Quite frankly, why Chelsea would even consider doing either of their rivals a favour makes this one seem a little unlikely to us, but in these crazy last few hours... who knows.
What do you make of the reports?
