Mesut Ozil – the man to lead an Arsenal title challenge?

The Gunners have signed one of the world’s best playmakers on transfer deadline day in what is an exciting piece of news for the Emirates Stadium club.

Arsene Wenger has had to cop a lot of flack this summer, as his cautiousness and patience in the transfer market have frustrated Arsenal fans desperate for new signings.

The French boss has repeatedly stated that the club would not be forced into panic buying and that he would only spend the reported newfound wealth on a player(s) that he felt would add something to the team.

In Mesut Ozil, Arsenal have pulled off the coup of the transfer window. The Germany international is undoubtedly one of the best in his position in world football and will be a real asset for the north London club in their quest for honours this season.

The former Werder Bremen man has starred for club and country over the last number of seasons, and despite the fact that Real Madrid have signed Gareth Bale, it comes a surprise that they were willing to let Ozil leave.

The new man has exceptional technique, a creativity that will keep Arsenal as one of the most dangerous attacking teams in England and the ability to dominate and run the side’s possession game.

Alongside Santi Cazorla, Arsenal have two world-class attacking midfielders that will terrorise opposition defences in the Premier League and in Europe. The pair are true footballers and together could well inspire Arsenal to a title challenge this year.

One man that will be very happy that Ozil has signed for Arsenal is Olivier Giroud. The France international has already started the season in fine goalscoring form but is set to see his chances to score increase dramatically.

The former Montpellier striker will be the envy of most players in the same position, as he now has Ozil, Cazorla, Theo Walcott, Aaron Ramsey and Jack Wilshere creating chances for him to score.

Arsene Wenger should be given a lot of credit for bringing Ozil to north London. The French coach has repeatedly had to suffer at the hands of disgruntled fans but he has stayed true to his statements earlier in the window. He said that Arsenal would spend the required cash if a player that could improve the team became available and that is exactly what he has done.

The transfer fee of in excess of £40 million shatters the club’s transfer record, more than doubling it in fact, and shows that the Gunners are now in the hunt for trophies.

Ozil’s switch is certainly the signing of the transfer window. The German playmaker can be a real star for Arsenal and the Premier League, and will form a mouth-watering attacking midfield combination with Santi Cazorla.
