It seems as though Manchester United are in a relentless pursuit of a replacement for left-back Patrice Evra after the player came under pressure for an under par performance against Liverpool on Sunday.
Manager David Moyes has seen several bids for his former player Leighton Baines turned down with the latest move. A £15m bid being batted away by new Everton boss this afternoon.
If Moyes fails in his bid to bring the England player to Old Trafford then there could be a back-up after rumours developed in the last hour that the current Premier League champions are lining up a bid for Granada’s highly rated wing back, Guilherme Siqueira.
The Brazilian was linked with a possible move to Anfield earlier in the summer after Liverpool showed interest in the 27 year-old.
Their interest cooled when they signed Aly Cissokho from Valencia.
Siqueira has also been touted as a possible replacement for Baines if the Toffees do end up selling the player to their former boss.
The deal, if it takes place, will be for a significantly lower price that the £15m that Everton turned down and it could be something of a coup, if the player is as good as many Spanish journalists make out.
One of the key points if either of these players were to join United would it signal the end of Evra who is desperate to keep his starting berth if he is to be the first choice for the French in the upcoming World Cup, at present Evra is facing fierce competition for his place in the national team from Manchester City’s Gael Clichy.
Do United need to replace Evra and are they right to maintain their pursuit of Baines in case they get outpriced? You Choose.
