Juan Mata is one of the most sought after Premier League players this deadline day, with him surprisingly not featuring in Chelsea's early fixtures.
Jose Mourinho has maintained the Spaniard is not for sale, but that has not prevented clubs enquiring after his services.
A mystery £30 million bid for Mata was revealed earlier today, with French champions PSG claimed to be behind it.
Liverpool are said to be interested too, and an approach for the Chelsea man from the Reds has been confirmed by Spanish journalist Guillem Balague.
Dozens of clubs have asked for Mata but Chelsea don't want him to go. Liverpool, PSG and Valencia amongst them— Guillem Balague (@GuillemBalague) September 2, 2013
The disappointing element of Balague's 'revelation' from a Liverpool perspective is that Chelsea don't want him to go.
With super-rich PSG involved, there is no chance Liverpool could get into a bidding war for his services, while it is debatable whether they could afford him in the first place.
It could be that Liverpool's offer was a loan enquiry, but it is surely a long shot.
Jose Mourinho may have loaned Victor Moses to Liverpool earlier on deadline day, but surely he is not crazy enough or generous enough to let them have Mata as well.
Liverpool fans, any chance of it happening?
