After weeks of scrutiny in the transfer market, and the lack of involvement by Arsenal, it looks as though manager Arsene Wenger could be the star of the show today.
The Gunners boss who has kept his sides' purse strings firmly tightened, starts the day with a rumoured enquiry as to the possibilities of loaning forgotten Chelsea striker Demba Ba.
The former Newcastle player has found himself left out of Chelsea's recent match day squad and the arrival of Samuel Eto'o means that the Senegalese international has slipped further down the order at Stamford Bridge.
Since his arrival in the UK in 2011, Ba has featured 81 times for his three clubs, West Ham, Newcastle and now Chelsea and returns a solid figure of 38 goals from those appearances, despite finding chances hard to come by at his current club.
It is thought that if the deal goes ahead, Ba will be a good back-up for Oliver Giroud who has started the season in red hot form.
The deal is expected to be welcomed as the North London side prepare to build a squad to compete nationally and on the continent in the Champions League.
As well as any possible loan move, Wenger also hopes to complete a £40m swoop for Real Madrid player Mesut Ozil today, after declaring interest and lodging a bid for the German.
