Arsenal latest: Ozil on verge of £42.4m record deal and Ba approach

News and gossip from Transfer Deadline day at The Emirates.

Arsenal are on the verge of smashing their transfer record in a deal for Real Madrid playmaker Mesut Ozil.

A figure of £42.4 million has been agreed between the two clubs and Ozil completed a medical in Munich ahead of a move.

The player is available after Gareth Bale made a switch to Real last night.

Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain were also linked with his signature.

Arsenal have reached an agreement with Palermo for the services of 27-year-old Italian custodian Emiliano Viviano.

Details of the deal are so far sparse, but it is believed to be a season long loan deal for the player to arrive at the club.

Arsenal have approached Chelsea about the potential to bring Demba Ba in on loan for the season.

The Senegalese striker has fallen down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge, and that has seen him linked with a move away this summer.

The two clubs are however believed to be some way off an agreement. Chelsea want £3 million as a loan fee, but Arsenal are only prepared to pay half of that.

Valencia and Napoli are also keen on signing the striker.

Mike Ashley reportedly played a blinder in the transfer market this summer. Cabaye was reportedly allowed to listen in on negotiations, where Arsenal apparently said ‘’25 million a lot for a reserve”.

That reportedly was enough to put Cabaye off of a deal this summer - and Arsenal are not expected to make a further bid for the French international.
