Arsene Wenger may be moments away from easing fan pressure by announcing a mega money signing…
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger may be orchestrating one of his biggest signings in the Emirates Stadium era as, according to reports in German paper Bild, Real Madrid and Germany midfield maestro Mesut Ozil is undergoing a medical ahead of the finalisation of his £44.2m transfer to North London.
The Evening Standard claim that Arsenal medical staff are in Germany assessing the health and fitness of Ozil, 24, while BBC Sport add that the transfer fee has already been agreed, personal terms have been signed off and all that is holding up the deal is the aforementioned physical examinations.
An intelligent player both on and off the ball, Ozil's movement, passing and finishing are all praised by a number of world renowned coaches, including Wenger's London rival Jose Mourinho, who likened him to a Luis Figo/Zinedine Zidane fusion when the now Chelsea manager bossed Real Madrid.
Having returned 10 goals and 18 assists from 51 appearances last term, Ozil is by no means an outcast at the club but, having made Gareth Bale the first €100m+ player, Real will now look to offload a number of players in order to balance their books.
Ozil could also be just one of a number of players heading to Ashburton Grove as Wenger has £80m at his disposal and it is expected that pushes for Angel di Maria and Abel Hernandez will also prove successful during the transfer windows dramatic closing hours.
