Much of the mainstream media's Manchester United's focus has been on the recruits that manager David Moyes may be adding ahead of the 23:00 BST closing of the summer transfer window: Marouane Fellaini is expected to secure a £24m switch to Old Trafford, while Ander Herrera too is ready to join United as the club are reportedly willing to match the player's £31m release clause.
However, there are a number of players linked with United exits… primarily, misfit Shinji Kagawa, who has been wanted by Borussia Dortmund and Atletico Madrid but has, thus far, remained with the current Premier League champions.
That may change, though, as, instead of a permanent deal, interested clubs could allegedly sway United into allowing Kagawa to leave on a temporary basis. Atletico and, surprisingly, Arsenal, are therefore readying one year loan contracts, according to the Daily Mail.
Celtic, Besiktas and Sunderland were duking it out for the signature of Alexander Buttner, 24, who can play left back or left wing. Celtic have already failed with an attempt to snare Buttner, but if United land Everton defender Leighton Baines then it is expected that the once-capped Netherlands international will be allowed to leave, but not to the Glasgow side as the SPL transfer window is already shut.
Everton, meanwhile, want any transfer involving Fellaini to United to involve Wilfried Zaha coming the other way. Zaha impressed during his pre-season with the Red Devils, but the 20-year-old is yet to feature in the Premier League.
