Transfer talk: Bale imminent, Demichelis medical and Kagawa swap

Transfer news involving Tottenham, Manchester City, Manchester United, Everton, Crystal Palace, Arsenal, Newcastle, Chelsea, Sunderland, Liverpool and West Brom.

Right, let’s get this out of the way, Gareth Bale is set to be announced as a Real Madrid player later today. The long protracted transfer saga was reportedly finally ironed out late last night - and he could now be presented to Real Madrid fans on Sunday evening.

Sky Sports report that there was a ‘breakthrough’ in negotiations last night but did not reveal a quote of a figure for the player - which has been bandied around the £78 million to £100 million mark in recent days.

Martin Demichelis is having a medical at Manchester City today. The Argentine defender worked with City boss Manuel Pellegrini at Malaga last season and was a free agent this summer. He was snapped up by Atletico Madrid at the start of the summer - but upon hearing of his former managers interest he is reported to be willing to forego his sign-on fee in order to facilitate the move.

Atletico have just signed Toby Alderweireld as a replacement - so the £4 million deal for the 32-year-old should concluded by the end of today.

Everton are reportedly prepared for the exits of Leighton Baines and Marouane Fellaini this summer. If the duo were to join Manchester United it is reported that Everton would complete deals for James McCarthy of Wigan Athletic, Bruno Martins Indi of Feyenoord and Ryan Bertrand of Chelsea.

Manchester United are reportedly considering the idea of a swap deal with Borussia Dortmund - that would see Ilkay Gundogan go in one direction and Shinji Kagawa the other - they are also keen on AS Roma midfielder Daniele De Rossi.

Crystal Palace now want to add Callum McManaman to the fold after signing Jimmy Kebe and Jack Hunt yesterday. A £5 million bid has been lodged with Wigan Athletic. Ian Holloway had the talent on loan at Blackpool in 2011.

Arsenal will not give up on Yohan Cabaye, with another bid expected to be around the corner - while they are also being linked with Juan Mata again this morning.

Sunderland boss Paolo Di Canio will still be looking to add to arrivals at the club this summer into Monday. He reportedly wants Alex Buttner on loan from Manchester United and Fabio Borini of Liverpool.

It comes as Liverpool draw closer to bringing in Victor Moses on loan for the season.

Meanwhile he could send Stephane Sessegnon away from the club this summer, after his recent arrest for drink driving saw him fall foul of the manager.

West Brom are said to be keen on bringing him in.
