Arsenal v Tottenham Hotspur – Team news and predicted line-ups

Arsenal Emirates 3

As the Gunners prepare to face Spurs on Sunday, we predict the starting line-ups.

With 10 goals in the two league matches between Arsenal and Tottenham last season, fans and neutrals alike will hope Sunday’s 4:00pm kick-off doesn’t disappoint. That said, offer either team a scrappy 1-0 win and they would surely bite your arm off.

Spurs fans seeing an apparent conveyor-belt of new arrivals at White Hart Lane this summer believe this could be the season they not only take Arsenal’s place in the top four, but have a realistic tilt at the Premier League crown. And while that may be too much too soon, there is no doubt that even with the imminent departure of Gareth Bale they have improved their overall squad with some impressive signings.

As for Arsenal, well, let’s wait until Tuesday to judge how good this latest transfer window has been for the Gunners.

Much was written in the aftermath of Arsenal’s opening-day defeat at the hands of Aston Villa. But since then they have been quietly impressive and will hope to maintain their fine recent form against their biggest rivals.

Arsene Wenger will be without Lukas Podolski, Mikel Arteta and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain; although Aaron Ramsey and Jack Wilshere should be fit following knocks in the match against Fenerbahce.

The Welshman in particular has shone in recent games, and this could be the season he fulfils – and possibly surpasses – his early promise.

Tottenham are likely to be without Emmanuel Adebayor and Benoit Assou-Ekotto, with doubts remaining over Aaron Lennon.

Andre Villas-Boas’s most recent signings, Vlad Chiriches, Erik Lamela and Christian Eriksen, will have to wait a little longer for their debuts.

It is sure to be an exciting afternoon and here is how I expect the two sides to line up:

Do you agree with the line-ups above? If not, who do you think will play on Sunday?
