Should Liverpool bring Fernando Torres back to Anfield?

Could Liverpool bring Torres back from Chelsea?

A fresh twist has un-folded in the Fernando Torres transfer saga. After being substituted in Chelsea’s opening game against Hull City and then subsequently left on the bench for the games against Aston Villa and Manchester United, Torres has once again been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge.

Seemingly way down in the pecking, especially after being preferred against Manchester United by midfielder Andre Schurrle who lead the line for Chelsea and now the arrivals of Willian and Samuel Eto’o, Torres’ game time looks set to be reduced even further.

With the transfer window only open for a further 3 days, time is running out for the Spanish hitman, to find a club who can offer him regular playing time.

Liverpool is the latest club to emerge as Torres’ new destination, after the missed out on their top two summer targets - Henrikh Mkhitaryan who joined Dortmund and Willian who subsequently joined Chelsea.

Torres is still held close to many Liverpool fans hearts for what he achieved, whilst at the Anfield club, but many are still angered in the way he left. If Torres were to re-join Liverpool, he would have to get back to the dazzling heights, which made him one of the top strikers in the world – if he was to win back those fans and make him as loved on the Kop as he once was.

Torres could just be the signing Liverpool need to break back in to the Champions League spots. Although deemed a failure at Chelsea, he still managed last season to score a total of 22 goals, which is what Liverpool missed last season, after being so heavily reliant on Luis Suarez.

If Liverpool could pull off this transfer coup, they would boast one of the best attacking forces in the Premier League with Luis Suarez, Daniel Sturridge, Phillipe Coutinho and then Fernando Torres. Whether Liverpool’s system could be adapted to fit all these players in at once would remain to be seen, but I am sure it is one headache that Brendan Rodgers and Liverpool fans would love to see.

Please give us your views below. Would you like to see Torres return to Anfield? Or would you prefer somebody else? If so, who would that be?
