Liverpool latest: Defender to return against United; triple-signing draws closer

All the latest team news and transfer rumours from Anfield…

As Liverpool prepare to face Manchester United tomorrow, a report from the Daily Mail claims Wayne Rooney was injured in training earlier today. Whether the injury, sustained to his head, will keep him out of the match has not yet been revealed.

Although stories are beginning to filter through this evening that he has been hospitalised and is a doubt for tomorrow’s match.

Liverpool can expect to welcome Martin Skrtel back into the squad, a timely return given Kolo Toure’s potential absence with a groin injury. Although the Ivorian has previously hinted that he could be fit for tomorrow’s game.

The Reds will definitely be without Aly Cissokho, while Joe Allen remains a doubt.

In transfer news, Sky Sports has reported that Liverpool are close to completing deals for three new arrivals – Tiago Ilori, Mamadou Sakho and Victor Moses.

Moses is expected to join on a season-long loan deal from Chelsea, while Ilori and Sakho should complete moves for around £8million and £15million respectively.

Liverpool will however miss out on Toby Alderweireld’s signature, as the Ajax defender looks set to complete a move to Atletico Madrid, according to widespread reports including those in the Express.
