The Danish international playmaker has been linked with clubs across the continent this summer. Ajax were resigned to selling one of their star players despite clearly wanting to keep the player - however, with his contract expiring in 2014 they had no choice but to take the money and run.
He joins Erik Lamela and Vlad Chiriches in arriving at White Hart Lane in the past 48 hours. Arrivals are certainly what Spurs need - as they prepare to brace themselves for the departure of their star player Gareth Bale.
The Welshman is now seemingly just a few dotted I’s and T’s away from making his long-protracted move to Real Madrid a done deal.
With that they lose the Premier League’s best player from last season, explosive pace, positional dexterity, a wonderful delivery - and of course, a deadly free-kick.
But fear not Spurs fans, because trust me, Christian Eriksen can more than fill that latter void.
The 21-year-old star is easily one of the best free-kick specialists on the planet right now - with his recent form from dead-ball situations quite frightening.
He has been banging in the goals from free-kicks during pre-season, at the start of the campaign and for the Danish national team.
So if Tottenham earn a free-kick on the edge of the box, Eriksen can be as big a, if not a greater threat, then Bale from that position.
But it is of course not just going for goal where he is superb in this respect. His delivery from corners and free-kicks from out wide is also viciously whipped in - and with the likes of Roberto Soldado, Paulinho and Etienne Capoue looking to get on the end of them, set-pieces could now become a real feather in the cap of Tottenham Hotspur this season.
Here are a couple of free-kicks Christian Eriksen scored against Dynamo Dresden in pre-season…
