Jan Aage Fjortoft of Swindon Town and Middlesbrough fame claims Arsenal made the bid yesterday.
Jan Aage Fjortoft played for Swindon Town, Middlesbrough, Sheffield United and Barnsley during his five years in English football - gracing the Premier League during his time with Boro and The Tykes.
A Norwegian international with over 70 caps for the Scandinavian country throughout his 20 year footballing career - the 46-year-old forward ended his playing days outside of his homeland in Germany.
He had three good years with Eintracht Frankfurt before returning to Norway with a move to Stabaek in 2001 - but he has continued to have good links with Germany.
Nowadays he works as a football pundit and reporter for both Norwegian and German television.
And today he has come out with quite an extraordinary revelation via his official Twitter account:
Interestingly, 30 minutes before this Tweet he posted a picture of himself at the home of Schalke, the Veltins Arena, before conducting media work for the game between Schalke 04 and Bayer Leverkusen this evening - so has he heard something through the grapevine?
Schalke were linked with Lukas Podolski the other week, but that was before Poldi bagged a brace against Fulham.
However in Arsenal’s apparent attempt to grab the 19-year-old starlet, it appears the elder German is considered a commodity worth sacrificing - if Fjortoft’s sources are as good as he suggests.
But still, that deal falls well short of the £60 million which the Gelsenkirchen side reportedly value the teenage attacking playmaker.
What do you make of the Tweet? Would Podolski for Draxler please you?
