Arsenal were this week linked with snapping up French midfielder Josuha Guilavogui.
With targets such as Geoffrey Kondogbia heading for Monaco and Paul Pogba not for sale, surely Guilavogui seemed achievable.
The 22-year-old defensive midfielder has three international caps for France, and impressed in Ligue One for St Etienne last season.
But fresh reports claim that Arsenal have missed out, again.
South American news outlet Terra, claim that Atletico Madrid have sealed a deal for Guilavogui.
Their report states: "Atletico Madrid squeezes the last hours of the transfer market. The club has completed the incorporation of Josuha Guilavogui , French midfielder Saint-Etienne, for about 10 million euros."
The news has also been picked up by Spanish newspaper AS, which claims Atletico expressed an interest in the midfielder earlier this week around the same time Arsenal did.
They write: "The French-Guinean is considered a rough diamond, with polished technique but (is) defensively exquisite."
If the transfer is officially completed, it will be the second in 24 hours Atletico Madrid have sealed, snapping up Ajax defender Toby Alderweireld on Friday.
That double deal would have been well received at the Emirates, but it looks likely Guilavogui is no longer an option, and the Gunners must move onto the next one instead, or simply make do with Mathieu Flamini.
Arsenal fans what do you make of this latest disappointment?
