Transfer talk: Featuring Chiriches, McCarthy and Torres

Transfer news from Chelsea, Tottenham, Everton, Manchester United, Crystal Palace and Arsenal.

Tottenham Hotspur have completed the signing of Romanian international defender Vlad Chiriches. The club have been chasing the Steaua Bucharest star all summer, but a deal has been complicated by the clubs controversial, and imprisoned, owner Gigi Becali.

However an £8.5 million deal has been agreed for the player, who had this to say about his move:

"For me, this is something incredible. A dream come true. Spurs play very good football and this is my type of football,"

Despite being reported yesterday that Everton had not made an approach for Wigan Athletic midfielder James McCarthy - that has now reportedly changed. According to Sky Sports the club have made an official enquiry as to the availability of the Irish international.

This story is likely to further fuel rumours that Marouane Fellaini has requested Roberto Martinez and Everton FC let him leave this summer - so that he can reunite with former manager David Moyes at Manchester United.

Nicklas Bendtner may not be going anywhere after all. The Danish international striker has been linked with a handful of clubs this summer - but his wage demands are proving a stumbling block.

Now Arsene Wenger is considering playing him this season after failing to be shot of the controversial forward.

Christian Atsu is undergoing a medical at Chelsea today. The Ghanaian winger will sign from Porto, before being immediately sent out on loan for Vitesse Arnhem .

Tom Carroll, who featured in Tottenham’s Europa League success last night, is being linked with a season-long loan deal at Crystal Palace. He is currently down the pecking order at White Hart Lane with the likes of Mousa Dembele, Paulinho and Lewis Holtby for competition. Barry Bannan is also being considered.

Finally, and news on Fernando Torres, who is now said to be available. He is being linked with a move to former team Atletico Madrid after Chelsea signed Samuel Eto’o from Anzhi Makhachkala.
