Arsene Wenger has stated that he will not be forced into panic buying, like he did two years ago.
He said at his pre-match press conference: ‘I am confident of bringing players in, we will not panic buy, that is for sure.’
Fans will be hopeful that this means that at least some players will be brought in before Monday’s deadline otherwise their club will be left with an incredibly thin squad, due to injuries and departures.
Arsenal did announce the re-signing of midfielder Mathieu Flamini yesterday but this has done little to satisfy the fans who will still expect to see big name players come into the club.
He was talking before this weekend’s London derby and believes that this is a great time to play their fierce rivals.
He said: ‘It is a good opportunity to show our strengths against Tottenham.’
The Arsenal manager also reacted to his side's Champions League group draw; they were drawn in a group with Marseille, Napoli and Borussia Dortmund.
‘It’s difficult but also it’s exciting as well, it’s a group of a good level’
His side will have their work cut out if they want to make it into the knockout phase of the competition; they begin their campaign in Marseille in the Stade Velodrome and finish in the hostile atmosphere of Napoli.
They will not want to be going into that game needing a win to qualify because other English teams have shown how hard it is to take anything away from there.
Who do you expect him to sign?
