Liverpool transfer news: Shay Given rumours, Ilori given permission to speak to Reds

A round up of the latest transfer stories concerning Liverpool.

Liverpool are being linked with a move for experienced goalkeeper Shay Given.

Given has been told he can leave Aston Villa and the former Newcastle and Manchester City man could jump at the chance to join the Reds.

Simon Mignolet is the current number one at the club following Pepe Reina’s loan move to Napoli with Brad Jones also providing back up in the squad.

Sporting Lisbon defender Tiago Ilori has reportedly been permission to speak to Liverpool over a possible move.

The 20-year-old has been linked with a move to Anfield throughout the summer with Liverpool already having seen a bid for him turned down.

The Portuguese side reportedly want a fee of £6 million for the youngster, which Liverpool may have no choice other than to pay considering the recent injury to Kolo Toure.

Liverpool’s pursuit of Ilori could now be stepped up following the decision of Belgian defender Toby Alderweireld to join Atletico Madrid.

The former Ajax man has apparently been a target for the Reds throughout the summer although they have never made their interest official.

Atletico Madrid recently had an offer for the defender rejected and their Champions League status could be the reason he favours a move to Spain.
