Moyes: 'No guarantees' Man United will do business before Monday

Manchester United manager reaffirms clubs stance on Wayne Rooney ahead of trip to Liverpool.

David Moyes has said there is no guarantee over Manchester United making any signings before the transfer window closes on Monday night.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference ahead of United’s visit to Liverpool on Sunday, the United boss said: 'I hope we do a little bit of business but I couldn’t guarantee that.'

Anders Herrera has been one of the names linked with Manchester United lately but Moyes refused to be drawn into naming specific players.

The United boss also took time to praise forward Wayne Rooney after his performance against Chelsea on Monday night. Rooney appears likely to stay at Old Trafford for the foreseeable future despite being linked with a switch to the West London club for much of the summer.

'We told you and everybody else from day one, so I don’t think there’s anything else to add today,' said Moyes, reiterating the club's stance.

'I felt he played very well the other night and he’s looking in good condition and is mentally in good shape too. We’ll do everything we possibly can to keep that going.'

Moyes is anticipating a difficult game against Liverpool as he looks to end his unwanted record of no Anfield wins during his management career.

'It’s always been a difficult place to go has Anfield. It’s a great stadium and I’m looking forward to going back there.'
