Arsenal latest: Including 'unbalanced' Spurs and £8.5m for Guilavogui

All the news and gossip from the past 24 hours at The Emirates.

Arsenal face Tottenham Hotspur in the North London derby this weekend - and Arsene Wenger has been speaking about his North London rivals spending spree this summer.

He claims the widespread changes in the ranks would have ‘unbalanced’ the squad at White Hart Lane - something he will not be doing with ‘panic buying’.

He also criticised the asking price for Gareth Bale suggesting it was not linked with the ability of the player.

He went on to suggest that outcast striker Nicklas Bendtner could actually play a role in the first team this season. It comes amid an injury to Lukas Podolski, and would potentially hint at a lack of progress in attacking options in the transfer market.

Bendtner spent last season on-loan with Juventus, scoring zero goals.

Tony Adams has been spewing out pearls of wisdom throughout the summer about the situation at Arsenal - but today admitted one more slight on his pretty poor coaching reputation. He told Arsene Wenger NOT to sign Gareth Bale when the race was on for the young Welshman.

Adams did not rate the player as a defender - which is fair, as he has become the most desirable attacker on the planet.

Staying on the subject of Bale, and Wenger could be waiting for Bale’s move to Real Madrid to happen - so he can snap up Angel Di Maria, Mesut Ozil and Karim Benzema. The press believe Arsenal will go for all three - but it is quite obvious that they will only get one possibly two, if any.

Di Maria is currently the favourite to potentially make a move - after Benzema and Ozil were categoric in their recent desire to stay at Madrid.

The Gunners have reportedly bid £8.5 million for St Etienne midfielder Josuha Guilavogui, as Newcastle look likely to keep Yohan Cabaye this summer.

Guilavogui, a talented French international himself, could be looking to leave Les Verts - after they crashed out of Europe to Danish outfit Esbjerg.

Arsenal are also one of a number of teams being linked with a move for Real Madrid playmaker Kaka. The Brazilian has handed in a transfer request at Real Madrid after a difficult four years in Spain.

AC Milan are still considered the favourites to snap him up - or a return to Brazil could be on the cards.
